Daniel (Dane) Beronjic

Dec 26, 1931 – Sept 27, 2022

With heavy hearts we announce the passing of Daniel Beronjic on September 27, 2022 at the age of 90.  Left to mourn are: daughter, Monica (Nick); beloved granddaughter, Katie; sister, Anica; and many extended family and friends.  Predeceased by: his wife, Kata; son, Milan; infant daughter, Dragica; and sister, Jela.

Born in Krasulje, Bosnia and Hercegovina, Daniel married Kata in 1952.  They lived in Potocani, Crotia where they started their family and life together.  Life was difficult in the former Yugoslavia, so they made the decision to escape and immigrate to Canada.  Daniel loved to share many stories, a favorite was the one about their journey from Potocani, to a refugee camp in Austria, to finally arriving in Canada two years later in 1958.

They were sent to Saskatoon where they stayed and built a life.  Daniel ran his own roofing company for over forty years.  He loved his family, especially being a grandpa to Katie, his home, massive garden, community, friends and neighbors who were so kind and helpful to him over the last few years.  An excellent dancer, he could be found at the Legion on Saturday nights or reading a book learning about a variety of new topics. 

A proud Croatian but an even prouder Canadian.  He was a believer in democracy and was a lifelong student of world history and politics.

Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, October 7, 2022 at St. Anne’s Catholic Church - 217 Lenore Drive, Saskatoon, SK.  In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to UNICEF Canada, the Saskatoon Public Library, or any charity of your choice.
