Doug, I was so sorry to hear of Gerry's passing. I only met her recently and spent a couple of weeks with her while my mother was her roommate at St. Pauls Hospital. I feel blessed to have known her and enjoyed the time I spent visiting her. I heard many stories about her family and while small I could tell there was a lot of love there! I have thought of her often and will always remember her kindness. Jennifer Berry

Doug, I was so sorry to hear that your mom passed. In my heart she’ll always be where she was happiest, up at the lake with you and Jonesey. She was full of life and laughter and she’ll be dearly missed. ~ Laurie Weir and Terry Fries

Doug I am profoundly sorry to hear of the passing of Gerry. She was not only my friend, but also (as you know) like a mother to me. There are not enough words to convey the love and memories I will forever cherish. From the countless summers and hours we spent together in Waskesiu to the numerous weekends I spent in Saskatoon with your mom going to Sundogs, staying up half the night sharing our happiness and sorrows, laughter and tears, and of course wine! Bruce thought we were crazy when he would get up to use the facilities around 3:30 or 4:00 am and we were still up. I’ll never forget after the birth of our daughter Gerry came into the hospital, after visiting hours of course, as she and Jonesy were on their way to Waskesiu. She had told security she had driven hours to see me and the baby and wasn’t able to wait until morning. Into my room she walked with a giant stuffed animal almost as big as herself. We laughed so hard…….only Gerry could talk them into letting her in at 10:00pm. Your mom was also the one who took me shopping when I was looking for a wedding dress. She knew exactly where we needed to go and the places we went we were treated like royalty. They knew your mom by name and treated me like a princess. She helped me find the dress of my dreams, and definitely did it in style. I could go on, but it would take a lot of space and time. I know you knew our connection and bond. Your mom was very proud of you. She loved you fiercely, and you were her greatest source of joy especially after losing Bruce. Gerry also adored both of her granddaughters Brooklyn and Bishop and her great granddaughter Tali as well. I know how devastating her loss is to all of you as I feel it too. Please know our hearts are with you at this very difficult time. With Love, Hugs and Prayers

Dear Doug,
I am so sorry for your loss! I was your mother’s hairdresser for years & we became friends with me doing her hair, for years, in my house, after my kids were born! We did lose touch after I went back to work full time but reconnected, both of us, in the clinic, waiting for mammograms! She was a very vibrant & feisty lady & loved the little house of grandma’s & the cabin at Waskisu. May your wonderful memories help you through this difficult time.
Sincerely,
Maxine Ries
