If ever one typified "joie de vivre' it was Mary. We became acquainted many years ago at then University Hospital when she worked as a ward secretary. Over the years we met again with her avid engagement in tennis playing at the Riverside Tennis Club and her recounting indomitable forays to the stellar tournaments around the world. Among her many interests was music with the symphony concerts, a venue at which we often saw her.. She long ago emptied her 'bucket', and I agree she left this world having no regrets. Bon voyage on the next chapter..

I have been friends with Miss Mary for over two decades, mostly through The Canadian Club of Saskatoon. She is an unique lady that will be irreplaceable to anyone who knew her. I will always remember her exciting travel stories, notably New York City in September 2001 and her escape from the horrors of that city’s tragic event. - Lynne Neault, Saskatoon.

I met Mary 30 years ago. I always looked forward to seeing her. Her stories of travel were the best! She had a sharp mind and a great memory for details. She really did do it all her way.
With sympathy,
Krysia ( Trish to Mary)

Miss Mary Matwyuk was my father’s (John Matwyuk) younger sister. To me, Auntie Mary was a glamourous and exotic woman who often sent wonderful Christmas gifts from faraway places. To me she was a beautiful, successful and independent career woman who lived an exciting life involving beautiful clothes, world travel and a passion for tennis and the symphony. She had impeccable taste and set the bar high for this impressionable young niece! I believe Auntie Mary lived life on her own terms, without regret and surrounded by friends who shared her many passions. I will always remember her with great fondness.
Love from:
Janine (Matwyuk) Brethour, husband Blayne, daughters Danika (Catherine) and Kiersten (Jonathan)

My condolences to you Janine
and all your relatives. Miss Mary was a valuable member of the Canadian Club of Saskatoon; always delightful and in attendance for our luncheons. We decided to fold in 2019, after 40 years, and our membership contributed to an art restoration project . Your Aunt is remembered for her kindness, generosity and endless energy.
- Lynne Neault, (former) Club Secretary .

Mary was a forever supporter of classical music and a constant source of positivity for me during my tenure at the Saskatoon Symphony. I have uploaded a photo of Mary with Victor Sawa. It was taken during his farewell post-concert event and she was keen to have a word with him. Definitely a mutual admiration. Sincere condolences to family and friends. She was a gift. Jill Reid
