Tony Lourenco Roque
1954-2020
Tony died at St. Paul’s Palliative Care on Tuesday, August 18, 2020 at age 65. Tony’s strength and consideration for his family, while coping with a terminal illness, was an incredible gift; he had a zest for life and wanted no sadness.
Tony, an only child, was born October 26, 1954 in Quintos, a Region of Beja, Portugal and immigrated to Canada in 1965 with his parents. Tony loved his family, valued the time spent with grandkids and extended family. He was loyal, kind, had a great sense of humour and will live forever in our hearts, wife Gloria of 41 years; daughter Toni (Scott) Kade and son Damien (Lisa) Kaicee, Bodhi; his mother Maria Lourenco Roque; aunt Maria Roque Apolonia, all of Saskatoon. He is predeceased by his father, Antonio Manuel Roque in 2019.
Tony retired from The City of Saskatoon in 2010. He took great pride in his work as a grader operator and enjoyed many years with the Roadways crew. Tony continued to work for Excel Excavating along-side some of his retiree friends; driving dump truck, grader and excavator until he could no longer.
His passion was in doing a job right and he spent a lot of time in his garage (with his music always on) working on his classic cars, motorcycles and family vehicles with his dog keeping him company. His door was always open and he was only a phone call away to lend his garage and assist with the repairs.
Tony made many lifelong friends and greatly appreciated getting together for a beer, coffee, or a meal. He enjoyed the road trips on his Harley, and the visits at our home and the phone calls.
Thank you to St. Paul’s hospital staff, family, friends and neighbors.
Cremation has taken place and due to Covid-19, a private graveside service will be held at Woodlawn Cemetery on Friday, September 18, 2020, to be officiated by Reverend Emily Carr.
