James Armstrong

Obituary of James Robert Armstrong

The loving family and friends of James mourn his sudden passing on January 10, 2020 in Saskatoon. He was 84.

Jim as he was known was a kind, caring, hardworking, honest, loyal and humble man. He had a good sense of humour and was a wonderful man who cared deeply for his family and was deeply loved by his family.

He was born February 26, 1935 to Frank and Annie Armstrong in Dinsmore, Saskatchewan. His older siblings were Stan and Lauretta.

Jim worked in or around Saskatoon all of his adult life. He was a Jack-of-all-trades. He was a farmer, small vehicle mechanic, truck driver, school bus driver, and his last job before he retired; a heavy equipment operator for the Corman Park municipality.

He was a farmer and the love of the farm was in his blood. Until recently, you could often see him mowing grass or pushing snow.

The family wishes to thank the many people who helped in a time of crisis and sadness. To the first responders and staff of Shoppers Drug Mart in South Kensington; a heartfelt thank you for your compassion and assistance. To the strangers who stepped in to attempt to save the life of a man who helped others whenever he could; thank you for being there. To the staff at St. Paul’s Hospital who gave the family a safe, loving and supportive place to say goodbye to a man who will be greatly missed; no words can express how much we appreciate the work you do. And to Westwood Funeral Chapel for their assistance with Jim’s cremation arrangements; thank you.

To honor the memory of Jim, memorial donations may be made to any of the Saskatoon Hospital Foundations.

A celebration of Jim’s life will be held at a later date.

God bless.
