Obituary of Roy Stanley Dutnall

Roy was born in 1933 to Mildred and Earnest Dutnall in Kindersley, SK. Roy’s siblings were Vilda (William), Evelyn (Ervin) and Wes (Marie). Roy had bright red hair and freckles just like his mother Milly – a trait passed down to his grandchildren. Roy was very athletic, playing hockey, skiing and flying kites.
Roy married Joan Delorme in 1957, and they had three children, Carlene, Wendy and Grant.
Roy took his Electrician training in Saskatoon and worked for several companies before settling at the CN Rail where he worked for 32 years. Roy also ran his own electrical contracting business, Central Electric, for many years before officially retiring.
Roy and Joan loved travelling, especially to see family and friends, and took the road less travelled whenever possible. Roy always loved trains. Roy and Joan had train passes, and travelled on the train whenever they could. Roy continued to travel after Joan passed away in 2006, having gone to Ohio, Alaska, and Newfoundland. He loved the road trips best of all.
Roy was the original MacGyver and he loved to work with his hands, making furniture and fixing things in a creative manner. Roy loved reusing materials as long as he could to get full value out of them.
Roy loved to visit with his lifelong friends, especially Jim, Leo, and his neighbours Tammy and Tom. He attended church services regularly, and loved to sing with the choir and the Resurrection Choir. He loved to tease children, giving nicknames and telling silly jokes.
Roy will be missed by his immediate family, including Carlene MacPherson (Robert), Wendy Siemens (Roger), Grant Dutnall (Ann), his 7 grandchildren Cameron (Stacey) MacPherson, Jade MacPherson, Elizabeth (Ryan) Shewchuck, Veronica Siemens (Nathan), Danielle Siemens, Matthew Dutnall, and Nathan Dutnall, and 6 great grandchildren, Zac, Madison, Hailey, Teagan, Frederick, and Henrick.
Vigil of Prayer will be held on Wednesday, April 10 at 8:15 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, April 11 at 1:00 p.m. Both services will be held at St. Mary’s Parish
