Da Silva, Jose “Joe”

September 10, 1925 – January 5, 2019

It is with sadness we announce the passing of Joe on Saturday, January 5, 2019, at the age of 93.

He is survived by his loving wife of 65 years Maria, daughter Hortense (Fernando) Pereira, son Claude (Donna) Da Silva, son Brian (Heather) Da Silva. Grandchildren Jennifer Pereira (Kurt Soucy), Lucilia Pereira (Kris Johnson), Daniel (Chelsey) Da Silva, Steven (Laura) Da Silva, Marina, Gabrielle, and Nathan Da Silva, and eight great grandchildren. His sister Lucilia (Joe) Antunes of Saskatoon, sister Labina (Manuel) Marques in Portugal, and brother Daniel (Irene) Marques in France.

Joe was born in Portugal September 10, 1925, and immigrated to Canada in 1957 to work for CNR, and retired in 1987.

The family would like to thank the amazing nurses at Palliative Care, St Paul’s Hospital for the care and compassion dad received. Also Dr. Goubran and his nurse Julia at the cancer centre, in Saskatoon.

In lieu of flowers the family ask for donations to St Paul’s Palliative Care, or Saskatoon cancer centre.

Prayers will be held Tuesday 7pm, January 8, 2019, at St Mary’s Church (211 Ave O South), followed by the service Wednesday 11am, January 9, 2019, at St Mary’s Church.
