Obituary of Katherine Kostyk

Katherine (Kay) passed away peacefully at St Ann’s Nursing home at 100 years of age on August 10 2018. Prayer Service will be held Tuesday August 14th at 7:00pm and Funeral Service Wednesday August 15th at 10:00am, conducted by the Very Rev. Father Taras Makowsky from Holy Trinity Ukrainian Orthodox Cathedral 306 Avenue J South, Saskatoon. Mom will be lovingly remembered by her two daughters  Adele (Gord) Trischuk  and Donna Kostyk (Rick Bryus) ; grandchildren Russell (Tammy), Amanda  (Dale Bijou), Leanne, Darryl (Nicole) and Larissa (Garet Gader); great grandchilden Ben, Owen, Austyn and Jaden; sister-in-law Elsie Kostyk, brother-in-law Ted Cossette and numerous nieces and nephews. Kay is predeceased by her husband John, daughter Yvonne, parents Wasyl and Mafta Luciuk, siblings Mary Haidy, Sandra Kobuz, Sophie Baziuk, Pearl Hryciuk, May Baziuk Matt Luciuk and Michael Luciuk. She was guided in her daily life by a deep spiritual belief in the Orthodox faith. She was proud of her Ukrainian cultural heritage and was always willing to share her knowledge, cooking skills and sense of humor. She enjoyed being a member of the U.W.A.C. and especially the lifelong friends she made .We would like to thank the staff of St Ann’s Nursing home for their respect and kindness they showed Mom for the time she was there.  In lieu of flowers, Memorial donations may be made to Holy Trinity Ukrainian Orthodox Cathedral, Green Grove Camp or a charity of your choice.
